The Original 13 Rules Of Golf

To ensure that all players participating in the first recorded golf competition at Leith Links were following the same rules, the Gentlemen Golfers of Leith, Later the Honourable Company of Edinburgh golfers, drafted in 1744 the Original 13 Rules Of Golf. The tournament was played over a five hole course, with each hole over 400 yards in length. John Rattay, a physician, was the first winner & was declared "Captain of the Golf." The evolution of the game has prompted amendments to the original rules; most notably he first standard of 18 holes set by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, but the true essence of the old rules have remained unchanged. Complete with gold leaf frame, this makes a perfect gift for any occasion.
